I'm taking an online seminar called "Organizing 101" online right now, and it has me approaching containers in a whole new way. I've found my favorites are galvanized paint pails in various sizes and BASKETS BASKETS BASKETS! There are so many gorgeous examples of baskets in all sorts of shapes, sizes, colors, ages, weaves, materials, etc.
It's fun to search out interesting vintage baskets at the flea market, including funny old bicycle baskets and creels, and figure out good uses for them at home. They can hide a multitude of sins. For instance, right now I have a creel full of wires that don't seem to have any purpose. Once I graduate from class, hopefully I will stop hoarding and throw those out, but that's a whole other can of worms. For now, let's ogle some lovely baskets and how they are functioning:

Once I graduate from class, hopefully I will stop hoarding and throw those out, but that's a whole other can of worms. For now, let's ogle some lovely baskets and how they are functioning:
1. Adding just a bit of country flair.
2. Holding slipcovers and pillows for outdoor furniture. This basket would also make a darling clothes hamper in a bathroom.
3. As an attractive wastebasket.
4. Holding logs for the fire.
5. Basket handbags can be used to hold office supplies, file folders, and magazines. If you have a funky bag you bought at the straw market in the Bahamas ten years ago, think about pulling it out and using it in a new way in the house.
6. As an attractive way to hold kitchen supplies within open shelving.
7. As drawers that add texture.
8. As art. This graphic metal basket looks great on the wall, and adds to the rustic industrial look here.
I just had to add this one because that basket is so interesting - is it a stool? A sculpture?
9. To hold that unsightly pile of stuff that accumulates for your next trip up the stairs.
